To support the next generation of researchers focused on topics related to economics of risk and uncertainty, the second annual Huebner Foundation Doctoral Colloquium was held in conjunction with the World Risk and Insurance Congress at LMU Munich on August 2, 2015. This year’s faculty panelists were Martin Grace (Georgia State University), Michael Hoy (Guelph), Andreas Richter (Munich), and Sharon Tennyson (Cornell). The student presenters were Yiling Deng (Georgia State University), Jannes Rauch (Cologne), Anna Song (Georgia), and Servaas van Bilsen (Tilburg). The Colloquium itself took place at CES IfoGroup Munich, under the generous hosting of Professor Andreas Richter and Ms. Corinna Rupp. Introductory remarks were made by Dean Richard Phillips of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. The goal of the Huebner PhD Colloquium is to produce an ideal seminar environment with close interaction between students and professors that leads to advances in the doctoral candidate’s scholarship. ,

The Huebner Doctoral Colloquium provides outstanding Ph.D. candidates interested in research topics related to risk and uncertainty who want to pursue a career in academics, the opportunity to discuss their dissertation research with other doctoral students and leading academics. The colloquium supports community-building by connecting beginning and advanced researchers. This close interaction between students and professors leads to advances in the doctoral candidate’s scholarship. Further, attendees receive a certificate acknowledging their participation in this invitation-only event.
